The Ancistrus is a genus of nocturnal that in habitats the freshwaters of South America and Panama, with a vegetation based diet consisting mostly of algae. This diet of algae makes it the fantastic addition to most tropical aquariums as they will eat any algae that will grow in your tank making it easier to view your fish as well as removing the need for you to clean the glass.
